HITMEN PEEWEE AA UPDATE

The Pee Wee team, lead by Coach Chris New, kicked off the 2010/11 season with an intense 5 days of ice practice in the past week. The players, some of Houston’s most exciting 98 and 99’s, are getting ready for the upcoming Labor Day “Shootout” tournament in Dallas being held on Sept 4/5th.

The players’ commitment to getting in “game shape” has been high, with weekly fun runs, off-ice roller hockey endurance skate offs, and daily individual workout drills. After an intense ice practice this past Sunday, the boys headed out for a three mile off-ice roller hockey skate, and then named their team captains, Grayson Walloga (F), Dylan DeGeer (D) and Steyios Michalis (F).

At this year’s team season opening party, Coach New, a former Ferris State college player and captain, expressed how pleased he was at the boy’s transformation since tryouts in June, and quoted John Wooden in saying “the boys are doing their best to become the best they are capable of, and that is the level of success we are striving for”. As is typical of Hitmen seasons, numerous parents stepped forward to volunteer for various season roles while the boys participated in several team building activities. Special thanks to Bill and Tina Miller for hosting the event.

This year’s team is made up of 17 players, from just about every part of Houston. The team will be playing in NTXHL and attending several out of state tournaments. The roster page has recently been updated with the team's player pictures.
